The cities drawn by Pascal Ruetsch are doors opened on the imaginary, an invitation to a real visit, where the visitors can wander and dream. Inspired from reality, their streets, avenues, railways look like places we have the strange impression to know. Old-style or contemporary, the monuments and their architecture are always invented. The sight from the sky enables to appreciate every detail.
Neither a work on history, neither a study on architecture, nor even a reflexion on town-planning or building techniques, my drawings aim at graphically and artistically visiting a urban” fantasy”. I make use of all the elements linked to the city to invent and elaborate imaginary cities; however the result is not “unrealistic” at all.
Born in 1968, Pascal Ruetsch is French. He lives in Toulouse, a south-western city. He has always been drawing imaginary cities. After studying applied arts, he became a graphic designer and a Web designer.
